Aretta Hill
If the obstacles or adversities in life are any indication of the birth of greatness, Aretta Hill is certainly destined for it. “I had many difficulties with my pregnancy while carrying Aretta”, states her mother. “During labor I was packed down with ice because of my high fever. The doctors found it necessary to do emergency surgery to save my life, as well as Aretta’s - not believing that the she would survive”. She not only survived - she thrived to the amazement of all, bearing witness to the fact that her obstacles were presented only to encounter defeat as she rose above seemingly impossible circumstances.
Born in Akron, OH, Aretta began singing as a young child, and credits Bishop Oscar Hill, her grandfather as laying the foundation for her life, but it was not until the age of eight that the Akron community started to recognize her extraordinary vocal ability. Hill Temple First Born Church granted Aretta her first platform to release her music ministry. Surprised by the tremendous range of her vocals and the ability to create music she moved the heart and soul of the audience. And it is this vocal talent that has afforded her the opportunity to sing for great artists such as T-Mo Goodie from Goodie Mobb, Ken Orr and Slow Motion Soundz, plus a feature on Soultracks, last.fm, and other publications.
Aretta’s repertoire also includes performing background vocals on tour with Eric Benet and opening for artists such as Anthony Hamilton, Urban Mystic, Glenn Lewis, Mystikal, Do or Die, and other acts.

Rooted in good music such as Gospel, Neo-Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Rock, and Pop, and armed with the conviction that this was truly her path in life, Aretta embraced the dedication it takes coupled with her abundance of talents and expanded her abilities to produce her own music, write songs, as well as play the drums, bass guitar, and the keyboard.
